Many people just not understand, why a photographer need to charge such a high fees? However, it depends how high is your expectation, some may cost you a new camera indeed, but will you buy a DSLR and ask one of your friend to take pictures on your big day?

You may say “Yes, why not?”, let me share with you why a photographer need to charge for the amount, there is not only the shooting hours that photographer need to spend on, also a lot of time spending on the photoshop and editing, so that you pictures turn out nicely. Just imagine how many shots the photographer need to take for the whole event. How many sleepless nights he need to used up for the touch up? Besides, the investment on photography gears also cost a bomb to photographer, every gear has its life time, ranged from camera shutter, flash, and couple of lens need to invest to cover the needs of the whole event.

In addition, photographer need to update him/her self at all time, new editing skills, style, ideas…upgrade lenses, gears, including personal computer to handle the work.

Most serious photographers will shoot in RAW file, this will ensure the photo had captured the most details and good to be post processed in later stage, the conversion from RAW to jpeg itself already occupied a lot of times. Besides, still need to touch up on color, saturation, sharpness…

This is not any easy job trust me, but to those photographers they are willing to sacrifice, they want their pictures to be nicely done. This is what the principle of a passionate photographer!
